It all came from a need needing to be met.

Monday through Friday she is a project engineer, but 24/7, she is a well-known community organizer and the CEO and current president of the Dayton Young Black Professionals.

Named Dayton Business Journal's 2020 Class of 40 Under 40 & Dayton Human Relations Council's Social Justice of the Year Award Recipient, Daj'za Demmings is a native of West Dayton, Ohio. She  takes tremendous pride in her hometown and makes a point to consistently support local initiatives and businesses, especially within minority communities. Demmings studied at Central State University and Wilberforce University, the only two Historically Black College/Universities (HBCUs) in the state of Ohio. Through her collegiate tenure, she was able to cultivate a range of skills and credits that contribute to her professional development in leadership, education, activism, empowerment, and service. Demmings is the Executive Director of Dayton Young  Black Professionals. Through this role she has worked to create a network that is a safe haven for young, African American career men and women to unite, network, cultivate their resources and thrive, together. Demmings is committed to a life of service and philanthropy for minority groups and marginalized people everywhere. But ultimately created DYBP to curate places where we notice our gifts and talents and figure out how to use them to change our community.

“I hope that people realize giving back to your community is the most influential thing we can do, it gives people a sense of hope and pride.”
